Recently, I have been to two events where I got to catch up with people I knew from high school (& earlier). This is very bittersweet for me. On the sweet (positive) side, it is fun! You find that the caring friendship you felt for them before is still alive inside. You get excited about seeing them and finding out how they're doing, and you genuinely care because you have such a history together. You wonder how you let things lapse such that you haven't heard from or talked to them in years. After the sweet side, the bitter side often kicks in. It seems like everyone is so much further in their lives. They are in (or graduated from) grad school, have their own apartments, are engaged or married, have a dog, know what they want to do in their lives. But not me. So sometimes these types of events make me pretty depressed. It just seems like everyone is somewhere and I am nowhere. Then I get myself a frappuccino to try & make myself feel better (Starbucks is my friend). Or maybe that's just me....

The Countdown Continues
Still training, but I'm almost there! I did a training run today, just over 10 miles. I'm starting to think this could be doable for me! My only real problem on the run was that my iPhone overheated around mile 9 (so I took it out of my sports armband and tried to air it out a bit because it was hot!) so I went music-less for a while and Polar Beat stopped (Polar Beat = the app that records my heart rate, tracks my distance via GPS, and records the time too). It will take me a long time to complete the half, but I should be able to finish within the 3.5 hour time limit easily, unless I have an injury or something...
Part 1 (pre-iPhone overheat)
Part 2 (post-iPhone overheat)
As people typically dress-up at Disney races (to varying degrees, from character inspired to a full on costume...that one can run in, of course), so I'm getting my running outfit together. What I have so far is a shirt and a skirt (coming):
UnderArmour Alter Ego Shield compression shirt. Technically it's a men's shirt, but the women's options are characters I don't know or like. NON are Marvel, I mean seriously?!?! That's messed up. Fortunately, the men's small fits, a bit tight actually. Not tight enough to be the compression shirt it's made to be, but I don't care about that really.
Running skirt that will hopefully match well enough... (from easy)
I am debating making terry wrist bands with a "Smash the Half" logo or phrase or something, but we'll see. Sometimes you oughta keep it simple.
Hawaii!!
A few weeks ago, I went to Hawaii with my mom sorta for her birthday. We stayed at Aulani which was very nice. Here are just a few photos...

Training on vacation isn't so bad with this kind of jogging trail

Keurig Cappuccino
So at Target I saw these Gevalia Kaffee Keurig pods for a cappuccino with foam. It has a separate "cappuccino froth" packet, and so I was curious about how that would look, taste, etc. In case you've seen it and are curious too:
Here's the box for the Gevalia Kaffe Cappuccino:
Ingredients in the Cappuccino Froth Packet
The instructions for making the cappuccino:
The components - Keurig pod & Cappuccino Froth Packet
The coffee from the Keurig pod/machine hitting the contents of the foam packet in the cup:
The cup I used was too small, but here is the final result. It does have a foamy-ness.
I am curious as to how it does that...I haven't taken chemistry since sophomore year in high school, so...about 10 years(!) so I don't know what the different science-y sounding words are in the ingredients list...
