Quick Review

Pinkberry has a new salted caramel flavor, and I decided to try it. I got it with the milk chocolate shavings. The yogurt was really good, but not quite salty enough to truly be salted caramel, in my opinion. Regardless, it went well with the chocolate shavings. Yumm =D I really do like Pinkberry. Once you get over that it's not traditional frozen yogurt, you can really get into. Their Pinkberry smoothie is delicious. If it weren't so far away, I could go for one right now....

LOL

So, I was reading this article in the LA Times - Travel about the fact that Malaysia Airlines is going to ban babies from first class. I mean, I totally understand. If I paid thousands of dollars more to sit in luxury and comfort in first class, I wouldn't want annoying, crying babies either. Especially on a long flight. Then I saw this poll:

I thought this was GREAT! Well, I was amused. I must admit that I had thought about this before. I would totally love, personally, a baby free section even in coach. I would pay extra for that (I've paid extra to get an aisle seat, so I would totally pay extra to sit in the baby-free section. Not first-class extra, but extra). I think a baby-free plane would make my day (or at least my trip =D). So then I voted in order to see the results, which (so far) are:

LOL. Most people say yes. The people who said no probably have kids or grandkids or something. Or are just plain nice people (I just called myself not nice...hehehe). No one said ban them in all classes though. So my baby-free plane is a very distant dream. So, apparently I need to win the lottery so I can fly first class in peace...

Here's another article about this that came out a while ago: "Babies v. Business Travellers - Who is More Annoying?" on BBC Travel

Fine, I'll make my own

Dear Disney Consumer Products,

Women like Cars too!!! So it would have been great if you had made some shirts for women. I went to the Disney Store, and they didn't even have Cars-themed shirts for girls!!! Not cool. So I made my own by printing out an image from the Internet (FREE) and transferring it to a shirt, then writing on the back. You totally lost like $30. Work on that.

Sincerely,
Me

Chocolate creations and odd commercials

There's a company called Chocomize that allows you to choose what you want in/on your chocolate and what type of chocolate you want it to be in. I just got the one above. It's s'mores inspired, and I ate pretty much half of it almost as soon as I got it. I have about 1/4 left. It's so good! yummm. I recommend it, but I would probably get several bars at a time because shipping & handling is expensive -- more than the bar itself (because they have to insulate it so the chocolate doesn't melt).

So, I really have never watched Disney XD, but I did recently because I taped a show that was on it, and I learned that they have the weirdest commercial breaks. First of all, they have actual commercials (unlike the main Disney Channel). Second, their commercials seem a bit interesting for the channel. They have the types of commercials that you would expect - like toys & movies (both guy-themed, of course, because Disney XD is the boy version of the Disney Channel). Then some odd balls. There was a commercial for tax consulting (which is especially interesting because if you haven't got your taxes together you are WAY late), the Baby Bullet (the Magic Bullet for baby food), lawyers (in case you've used Accutane), and the Gerber savings plan thing. I mean, maybe parents are watching the channel with their kids, but doesn't this seem a bit weird to you? They don't do that on the regular Disney Channel and the regular channel has Disney Junior (Disney for toddlers)! I don't know. Just kinda odd.

Luxury is Scary

So, yesterday I read about a plane that Boeing has thought about making but is probably far in the future because the cost would be high and the demand is low, but it's a plane that started off sounding good. There are no more classes because every seat has more personal space and choices and so it pretty much sounded like an all-first class plane in a sense.  The seats shift depending on how many seats they need (how many people are booked to be on the plane, and a lot of other features, but the feature that stopped me was this: the ability to make the walls and floor invisible so that you have a complete view of everything vs. just a small window and then only if you have a window seat. Umm...that sounds terrifying. I went in one of those little ski-lift pod things with a clear bottom and I had to close my eyes. I would totally freak out. Ooh! I found a youTube video of the plane of the future. Wow. That's insane. Fortunately, despite saying it could be done by 2050, I don't think that I will ever have to worry about taking this plane. But it does have a lot of cool features. Check it the video here. Read an article about it here.

But there is a plane out now that is really cool, but makes my somewhat afraid of flying self a wee bit nervous: the Airbus a380. It is kinda cool because it has lounges and stuff so on a long flight you can get up and move about and get a change of scenery and stuff. But it seems like planes are becoming larger and heavier all the time, and in my mind, a heavier plane is more likely to crash because it theoretically rakes less to make it crash. And apparently the Airbus a380 is the largest passenger plane. Yes, the a380 that hit the small plane was totally fine, but that's on the ground. In the sky? Undetermined. Two story planes make me a little nervous. Amazed, appreciative of the luxury, but still scared.

Things I learned yesterday

Yesterday, I helped out with an event that my company was sponsoring & helping to put together and I have decided to share all that I learned yesterday

1) My GPS thinks that I can go through a gated community to get to my destination. Yes, that may be faster, but the gate guards say no.

2) The fitted cocktail table covers are evil. Pure evil. (= SUPER hard to get on sometimes)

3) People who cannot remember other people's names should probably not go to events. I remember maybe...3 people's names. I am really that bad.

4) The only shoes I can wear for a long time are my sneakers and my Rainbow flip-flops. The shoes I wore (more professional than my 2 super comfortable shoes) are comfortable for a good while, but I wore them from about 8:30am - 9:30pm-ish. And from 10:30 on I really only sat down at lunch, so I was standing all day long, really. My feet hurt when I went to bed, when I woke up and they STILL hurt!

5) You have to have an eagle eye if you want to track down the guy with the chicken skewers & mango salsa. He's hard to find.

6) I am not the only one who cannot walk in high heels well. A LOT of the women who came to the event last night were in high heels, but a few of them looked just as wobbly as I feel when you look at their shoes/ankle area. They may pull it off up top, but they are WOBBLING!

Umm....I think there was more, but those are the highlights! =D

Trip to New York! No, not the City

My cousin graduated from high school on the 28th, so we flew out there (near Philadelphia) to see her graduate. It was great to see my dad's side of the family (that I don't see that often), and to see two of my good friends from college too! (One lives in that area, the other came down to hang out with us!). Then we went to Ithaca (NY) to visit with my sister who lives there. Here are some pictures and things about the trip.

Ok, this is not from the trip, but the day before or something like that. This is my invention, I call it the Samoa Latte as it is inspired by the Samoa Girl Scout cookie (or Caramel De-Lite cookie). It is 1 pump mocha syrup, 2 pumps coconut, & 3 pumps caramel. Yumm!

This is a mint chocolate chip water ice from Rita's, an institution in & around Philly (and some other places on the East Coast). If you don't know what a water ice is, it's hard to describe. Wikipedia-it and see what you find.

I just like this sign. You may need to enlarge the pictures to read it well.

There's this place in Ithaca called Waffle Frolic that has waffles. There are different batters (including a vegan and a gluten-free batter), and tons of different toppings. This is a buttermilk waffle with apple butter and fried bananas. If you are ever in Ithaca (aka you visit someone who goes to Cornell or Ithaca College), you MUST go there.

We went to the Cayuga Creamery and they have a Tasting sampler thing where you get to choose 5 flavors. The description said that they would be kiddie scoops, but I'm pretty sure that these were actually full-sized scoops. My sister helped, but I totally ate it all. The flavors (Bottom left around to top left): Sea Salt Caramel, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Cake batter, Cookies & Cream, & Cookie Dough. I especially like Cookie Dough because so often ice cream makers put in a few cookie dough pieces and tons of chocolate chips, but this one didn't have chocolate chips so it was all about the cookie dough. The PB&J ice cream really tasted like a PB&J sandwich (with a glass of milk, so my mom says).

Went to the movies there and  saw these Cars 2 posters and got really excited! I really might just go to the midnight showing of Cars 2. There's one at the Spectrum...maybe even more places. I'll check again when it's closer to the 24th.

In Waffle Frolic, there was student art on the wall that was for sale. I LOVED this piece, but of course it was sold. It's a really great picture for a fair price ($100. There were definitely smaller pieces that were more expensive)

Another waffle: Buttermilk waffle with yogurt and blueberry-raspberry compote. SO GOOD!!!

Pictures of the two glasses that I have sandblasted at the Corning Museum of Glass (an hour from Ithaca). I call them my Pixar glasses. I did the one on the left (Finding Nemo) the last time that I was there, and I did the other one (Up!) this trip. They're kind of hard to take pictures of...the Finding Nemo cup has fish on it and says "Just Keep Swimming." The UP! cup has a house with tons of balloons attached on one side, and on the other side there's a dog with the word "SQUIRREL!" Sandblasting was fun. Essentially, you decorate the glass with stickers & masking tape, and then sandblast it then remove the stickers. The glass under the stickers remains clear and the rest takes on that frosty look. So you can really only to outlines/profiles of images, but it all works out. If I go again, I'll do cars. Or maybe A Bug's Life. There were stickers for those...
