Mardi Gras, Disney-style

This year (or maybe before. I'm not sure because I just started reading the Disney Parks blog (the link to it is on my blog roll, if you're interested) recently, so it could very well be that they've been doing interesting things like this for a long time without me knowing about it), there are Disneyland "Family Fun" weekends. They had a Chinese New Year one two weekends ago, and last weekend, this weekend, and next weekend they have a Mardi Gras themed one. I went yesterday and it was really cute. They decorated the French Quarter area (which is always there for those of you who haven't been to Disneyland, and is sort of between Pirates of the Caribbean & the Haunted Mansion for those of you who never go) with beads and other Mardi Gras-style decorations:

They added a few new New Orleans-inspired foods like this super yummy Bananas Foster crepe (at Cafe Orleans, if you're interested):

And a short show with Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis the Alligator + dancers:

I made a video of the short clips of the show that I took with my camera, and as Google Blogger will not, for whatever reason, let me upload videos, I put the video on youTube:

After years of waiting, staying up until midnight to no avail, and more, I finally have an iPhone. It arrived in this box and I was SO excited. Opening it was like opening a long awaited gift. I've only had it for a day, really, but I'm all about the iPhone already! =D Having had the iPod touch for so long is super useful in working the iPhone because it works pretty much the same. The only main difference is that you plug in your earbuds on the bottom of the iPod touch, and on the top of the iPhone, so when I go to change the music in my car, I keep holding it incorrectly at first because I'm used to the the Aux cable going into the bottom, not the top. Funny story: One of the coolest things about it is that I can access the internet relatively easily on it, but I brought my iPad with me today! I think that it hasn't sunk in yet that I have a phone that I can use for internet easily (my old phone could, but it was difficult to do and generally not worth the effort. But, yeah. I feel a part of this generation now; I've got a smart phone and not just *any* smart phone, but the iPhone! =D It's wrapped by Invisible Shield and ready to go.

Isn't it interesting?

I was watching the Green Hornet yesterday, and as I watched a scene where they're in a high speed chase by the police, and their shooting at the police and ruining their cars and the police cars are flipping over and/or blowing up, and I thought to myself: why is the police the "bad guy" in this scene? It's just interesting that we have such polarized views of the police on screen & in life. I was thinking about this, and I decided that in general, police are the good guys on TV (ex: Castle, the Mentalist, NCIS, Blue Bloods), but more likely to be the "bad guys" (in the sense that they're chasing the main character(s) of the movie, who are the ones the viewers root for) in movies. Although it might be more even in movies. I don't know. I haven't thought about it *that* much. In life it's kind of the same. People feel differently about the police when they're speeding on the freeway, watching for a black & white car than when there's a robbery or something. Interesting, isn't it?
