Finally, a little before 11 PM (the race was supposed to start at 10 PM), some sort of announcement that I couldn't really here was made and people cheered and rushed on masse out the doors. I had to get up as quickly as I could considering I was sitting on the floor (like the people in the picture above) sort of near the door) and could likely have been trampled by Disney fans! As I was walking there, there was chatter of the race being shortened to a 10K but I did not hear anything actually official until the corral before mine when I could hear the announcers, but I was in Corral G so that was a significant bit of time, really. The fact that the race was shortened was disappointing because the challenge won't really be complete, but as it was nearly 11:30 PM before I crossed the start line and I had been up super early that day (we did the 5K that morning so we were on the bus by around 5 AM, so an EARLY start) & hadn't really slept (I tried to take a nap for 1.5 hours but that failed) and I had a headache, I ceased to care and just wanted to be done. I didn't do too badly time wise, though, which I found surprising:
I got over 40,000 steps, which was definitely new or me!
But anyways, the remaining course (they essentially just cut out the entire Animal Kingdom part, so to/in/from that Park. Fortunately the 5K takes place there so I still got the experience) was still nice. at Hollywood Studios, we got to run down the street that the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, which was cool. As people got their Coast to Coast medal at the race, I am very much expecting to mine this weekend after the Avengers...or else...
