Well, Friday, I got back from Hong Kong, an 11.30 hour flight with a considerable amount of turbulence (in case I haven't mentioned it, I'm sorta afraid of flying, but I can pretend that I'm not on a plane until turbulence hits, at which point I try my best to be calm but internally freak out. Externally if it's particularly heavy and/or prolonged turbulence). Then we go out to eat, and go home. After a few hours (aka. at about 8m after landing at around 1pm in LA, which is an hour away from where I live), I give in and go to sleep. And I sleep like a rock. Only to be awakened at 10 am-ish to go to yet another flight (to go back to school). The first leg of my flight goes fine. Then I wait....and then my flight is cancelled. So, after much searching (done by my very caring parents), I book a hotel room. It's a smoking room, so it smells smokey (yuck!). And I can't figure out how to use the shower. And there's a very annoying whistling noise coming through the window because of the strong winds, which made it very hard to sleep. Despite how tired I was, it must have taken me at least 1-2 hours to get to sleep. Then I get up and rebook the hotel *just in case*. Then I sit around all day playing on Farmville and reading (at this point I have already finished 2 books). Then I go to the airport. I had planned on going to the Starbucks in Terminal 2 first, but instead just went to my own terminal. Then I was there for a very long time, as I got there at maybe 7:15 and my flight was at 10:40. Then my flight is delayed. And delayed again. So we actually get on the plane at maybe 12:20 or so. Then they need to put more fuel in just in case (which I'm ok with as, my fear of flying comes from a fear of crashing to a terrifying, painful death). Then we leave. When we get to Burlington, we circle up above the airport waiting for info on the landing conditions. Apparently, the runways or whatnot are still too snowy or icy for a plane to land safely. So we go back to NY. Then I had to wait in my 2nd customer service line in 2 days. In all honesty, I was hoping for an afternoon flight so that I could get some sleep. Because I had already had one cancelled flight, the lady somehow got me a flight this morning at 10. I am super grateful for her string-pulling, but I do morn those hours of sleep (most people from my flight are on the 4:30PM flight.). My eyes are about going crazy. I have dry eyes, so when they're tired (form no sleep or reading or things like that...all of which have happened), they hurt and my eyelids twitch. *sigh* I should have gone to USC. If I could turn back the hands of time...
Anyways, I KNEW there was a reason that I prefer to fly United over JetBlue. Yes, weather is weather and airlines can't control that or anything. But with United, I fly through Chicago, and the Chicago airport has a Starbucks, and a Frappuccino would make my world brighter. But JetBlue has some sort of thing against Starbucks and has partnered with Dunkin Donuts instead. Oh, JetBlue...shame on thee.
